CrowPi2 Keyboard Questions

edited February 15 in Raspberry Pi & CrowPi

To charge the CrowPi2 keyboard I connected the supplied white micro USB cable from keyboard to a USB port. Is this OK?
Does the RC522 RFID induction module charge the keyboard? I don't know what it is.
Does the blue light flash or change colour to show the battery state?
When do I know that the battery is charged? Will the red power light or the blue Staus light change?
To disable the trackpad use the key with a monitor with diagonal line through. You cannot select Fn F1 on this keyboard as the manual says. It might work with another keyboard.
Open Raspberry (top left)>Preference>Raspberry Pi Configuration>localization and set all items or the time may be wrong.
Someone please clarify these items.

To charge the CrowPi2 keyboard I connected the supplied white micro USB cable from keyboard to a USB port. Is this OK?

    Yes, it is perfectly fine.

Does the RC522 RFID induction module charge the keyboard? I don't know what it is.

No, it is for use with your own experiments. You can follow each learning lessons to learn how to use each modules.

Does the blue light flash or change colour to show the battery state?

No, the Status indicator (Blue) shows the wireless keyboard connection status.

    • On : The keyboard is connected.
    • Off : The keyboard is not connected.
    • Blinking : The keyboard is in the pairing mode.

When do I know that the battery is charged? Will the red power light or the blue Staus light change?

The Power indicator (Red) shows the charging status.

    • On : The keyboard battery is being charged via its micro USB charge port.
    • Off : The keyboard battery is not being charged or fully charged.
    • Blinking : The keyboard battery is getting low.

To disable the trackpad use the key with a monitor with diagonal line through. You cannot select Fn + F1 on this keyboard as the manual says. It might work with another keyboard.

Probably correct as there are 3 versions of the keyboard. if your keyboard is the new version (On/Off switch and lights are on the right-hand side), while mine is the Kickstarter version (On/Off switch and lights are on the left-hand side with a Fn key). And the related key to toggle the trackpad is labeled as a crossed trackpad icon or Fn on the new/previous or Kickstarter version keyboard respectively.

    To identify your keyboard version

    • New version : On/Off switch and lights are on the right-hand side with a crossed trackpad icon key.
    • Production version : On/Off switch and lights are on the left-hand side with a crossed trackpad icon key.
    • Kickstarter version : On/Off switch and lights are on the left-hand side with a Fn key.

    To toggle the Trackpad function

    • On new version keyboard : Press the crossed trackpad icon key.
    • On production version keyboard : Press the crossed trackpad icon key.
    • On Kickstarter version keyboard : Press the Fn + F1 keys combination.

Open Raspberry (top left)>Preference>Raspberry Pi Configuration>localization and set all items or the time may be wrong.

Correct, by default, all settings are based on UK (i.e. Locale, Timezone and WiFi Country).

    .
p.s. The CrowPi2 FAQ is also a good place to start if you run into other issues.

  • Thank you.
My keyboard has the switch and lights on the left but does not have a Fn key so I have to use the crossed trackpad icon key.
I will try charging the keyboard and see if the red light goes out.
