How to Set Up and Customise My New Elecrow Forum?

I am getting the code and giving it a name. But I am at a loss for what to do next. I want to start a forum; but how do I go about doing it? I need assistance with such things as setting up the forum program on my server. changing the forums look and setup. creating subforums and categories to improve organisation. putting in place tools for control to control user behavior.
Any assistance would be highly appreciated.
