Designing a Small Strategy Dashboard for Mobile Games — Ideas & Component Suggestions

Hi everyone,
I’m interested in building a small physical companion dashboard that can help visualize strategic information for mobile games like Clash of Clans while playing on another device. The idea is something like a secondary display or LED indicators that show things like resource timers, upgrade progress, or troop cooldowns — basically a way to keep key strategic info visible without switching screens.

I’m wondering what kind of electronic components and modules would work best for this kind of project. For example, should I focus on OLED displays, touchscreen modules, or simple RGB indicators? And what microcontrollers would be easiest to integrate with a phone (Bluetooth / Wi-Fi communication)? I’m thinking about lightweight boards like ESP32 or Raspberry Pi Pico, but I’d love to hear your experience.

I also sketch out strategy ideas for mobile games on my site and sometimes think about how that could be enhanced with hardware, you can see some of the planning concepts at getclashofclans.com
but I am especially curious about the hardware side here. Has anyone tried something similar or have suggestions on displays, power management, or communication modules that are easy for beginners but still powerful?

Thanks in advance!
