ESP32 Display-3.5 inch driver issue

Hi hope someone can please advice.
When I plug in my ESP32 Display-3.5 inch (v2.2) via USB C the demo it comes with shows but no serial device shows in arduino. Oddly the device does not show in my device manager (windows) as a new com port device or unknown device.
Other arduinos show. Is there a device driver I show install? I have installed a CH341SER installer I found on one of the CrowPanel ESP32 Screen Products, but not sure if that made a difference. I didn't see a relevant driver in /Elecrow-RD/CrowPanel-3.5-HMI-ESP32-Display-480x320/

    I switched to a higher quality USB cable and it started working
