Issues setting up GrowCube and water spraying everywhere

Hi,
Was super excited to get this device after learning it can be controlled via Home Assistant.
Sadly I am having no luck at all with it...

When I do the initial app set up, the process halts at Step 3. The device is joined to my network, the light goes solid blue and my phone is reconnected back to the same 2.4GHz wifi but the final step fails and the app won't connect to the device.

I'm chatting with support to see if I can find a solution but nothing suggested so far helps. They'd suggested the following -

"The main reason is that our device primarily communicates with your phone and router through the TCP protocol to establish a local network. However, a very small number of routers are unable to establish this local network communication"

I was advised to turn off AP Isolation, which is a first, it's usually the other way round. I did try that but it still doesn't work.

I saw mention of using a mobile hotspot so I tried that, I used a device that was on 4G and made a hotspot from that and tried to set up the device that way but was again, faced with the same issue.

I'm also detecting errors in Home Assistant, it shows a problem with Sensors being disconnected, even though they are connected fine and reporting moisture....Without the App I can't confirm if this is a false positive or not. I'm not looking for support for Home Assitant but thought it might be relevant.

Then there is the more practical issue that is, how on earth do you position the tubing to stop water spraying all over the table? the pot is 4 inches wide so I need to bend the tubing around like shown in the instructions but no matter how I bend it, one of the holes ends up pointing outwards and spraying water over the table.

I've unplugged the unit for now, it's very dissapointing... hopefully someone can help before I have to return it (Elecrow have been very helpful about offering to take it back, I'm just keep to try and get it working first!)
