CrowPanel Advance 5 HMI ESP32 S3 Screen Tearing during OTA / WIFI
Hi,
I've got the advance 5 panel and I'm using the v1.0 "4.3_5.0_7.0_platfromIO" example
I've made no other changes except added ElegantOTA, and when I upload a new binary I get crazy horizontal screen distortions and tearing. The forum won't let me post a photo or I would
In a previous project I've tried all sorts of recommendations, changing timings, power, ram types, nothing has made any difference,
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Dear Horsepants,
During WiFi OTA (Over-The-Air) updates, WiFi may: consume significant CPU resources, consume PSRAM bandwidth, enter a prolonged critical section, disable some interrupts (including those required for I80/RGB refresh), block LVGL's disp_flush, and cause DMA inter-frame refresh latency, resulting in screen tearing, horizontal distortion, jitter, and screen glitches.
Recommended solution: Pause LVGL refresh during OTA updates.
Thanks!
Warm regards,
Hi Jennie,
Unfortunately, I've already tried that, it made no difference. I'm beginning to wonder if the screen is faulty, it's not just a little distortion it's quite extreme, and it seems to do it on wifi in general, even when not doing OTA, just basic wifi operations. I can't embed a photo for some reason, but I've attached one
Cheers
Hi Jennie,
Any updates? Is this just expected behaviour that any wifi will distort the screen?
Cheers

Dear Marku,
Sorry for the late reply .
Please flash our factory firmware onto your device to check for screen hardware issues.

You mentioned that the problem persists even when using only the screen and Wi-Fi. Please send us the program and a video recording. The video should include the complete operation/test process and the problem/fault phenomenon.
If the video is too large, please upload it to a platform (like Google Drive) and send us the link.
