@PeterM, @Rovman Using the 2024-02-03 64-bit bookworm version on a 32GB SD card, I can confirm this symptom is due to the fact that the root partition space becomes full during system update.
The picture (1) below shows an error message during updates.
The picture (2) below showing the root partition has only 2.81GB available space remaining.
Corrective action: Use a 64GB or higher capacity SD card.
If you want to preserve your current system setup, just backup/clone your current SD card to a new larger one. See 'How to backup the system SD card' for instructions.
Yes. There is another issue and I solved the problems:
1. Use a bigger SD card than 32 GB. I used a 128 GB.
2. Expand the OS after the first boot up. It is described on this forum.
3. The updates installed OK. Do not switch to labwc as recommended. It might work for a normal Raspberry Pi but messes up the Menu Bar on the CrowPi2. The message you see is below.
