The dimensions in the example are also 800x480. I would like to avoid using Arduino.

I was able to connect my CrowPanel to show the default firmware and then I tried to upload the hello world sketch. However, once that was uploaded my device suddenly bricked. Now when the device is plugged into the computer the screen is off but the red light on the back is on. I saw other users having this issue - how were those resolved? How do I reset my device firmware and what is the correct way to upload firmware to the CrowPanel Advance 3.5"?

If your ESP32 V3.0 touch screen doesn't work,or Lesson 4 touch example code doesn't work,
you can try to use the attached file upload code to make the touch work.

Note that the ESP32 version is 2.0.x, not 3.0+.

The CrowPanel_ESP32_LVGL_Demo attachment contains the main program and gfx_conf.h for Lesson 5.
Please replace the main program and the gfx_conf file, and it should work properly.
If you want to test the code for the later lessons, you can add new content on the basis of this LVGL_DEMO , replace gfx_conf.h in the same way.
Our engineers will update all lesson codes as soon as possible.

So, this is mostly informative for people like me you were too lazy to scroll all the way down the page and spent hours trying to figure out why I was unable to upload my code to the esp32s3 chip on the crowpanel 5 inch display.
Because if you scroll about 3/4 of the way down the settings you need to upload to the esp32s3 are there under section 3, board settings. Once I change the settings in the arduino ide, it uploaded fine. You would think they would put it at the top of the page where it really needs to be, but no that would be too easy. Anyway, hopefully this helps someone.

I’m currently exploring a project where I want to use an ESP32 driver board to control a large, high-brightness LCD module for an outdoor monitoring device. The goal is to have a display that remains readable in sunlight while showing sensor data and system status in real-time.

Several technical aspects have come up during the planning phase:

Display interface and signal handling
The LCD module I’m considering is a 10.1-inch 1920×1200 45-pin LVDS 1000nits LCD module. Driving LVDS signals from an ESP32 requires careful handling since ESP32 doesn’t natively support high-speed LVDS. Possible solutions include using intermediate driver boards or FPGA-assisted signal conversion. Timing and voltage levels need to be carefully managed to prevent flickering or signal loss.

Power requirements and thermal management
High-brightness LCD modules, especially those around 1000 nits, can draw significant current and generate heat. For an outdoor device, proper voltage regulation and thermal dissipation must be planned. Enclosures should allow airflow or use heat sinks to avoid overheating.

Mechanical and environmental considerations
When integrating the display into an outdoor monitoring device, it’s important to account for moisture, dust, and direct sunlight. Protective glass or coatings may be required, and mounting solutions must be robust enough to handle vibrations or outdoor exposure.

Software and data display
ESP32 will handle the sensor inputs and render the display content. Because of the high resolution (1920×1200), careful optimization of graphics and refresh rates is needed to maintain smooth updates without overloading the ESP32.

I’d like to discuss with the community:

Has anyone successfully driven a high-resolution LVDS LCD from an ESP32 or similar microcontroller?
What driver boards or intermediate circuits have you found effective for outdoor high-brightness displays?
Any tips on power management, thermal handling, or mechanical design for outdoor deployments?
Sharing experiences and solutions would be extremely valuable for planning this type of ESP32-based outdoor monitoring project. The 10.1-inch 1920×1200 45-pin LVDS 1000nits LCD moduleserves as a useful reference when evaluating signal handling, power requirements, and enclosure design for outdoor high-brightness applications.

I'm fairly new to this.
i just got my CrowPanel ESP32 2.9” E-paper HMI Display and i followed the instructions of installing/setting up arduino ide. When i connected the display using the provided cable, it booted up and output the default home/menu page with a red led lighting up at the back. As i was trying to upload custom sketches, the display would go to sleep(?) when kept idle and the red led would turn off.
The boot button wouldn't do anything but reset button would restart the display. Eventually the display stopped responding completely with led not turning on no matter what.
I tried reconnecting it multiple times, windows recognises when its connected, arduino ide too, even when uploading a sketch, the output shows that the upload was successful with,
'Wrote 364064 bytes (165195 compressed) at 0x00010000 in 2.7 seconds (effective 1084.1 kbit/s)...
Hash of data verified.
Leaving...
Hard resetting via RTS pin...',
but nothing happens at all.
Am i doing something wrong or is it bricked?
i am trying to get my hands on li-ion 3.7 battery hoping it might do something.

I am new to this board, but no matter what I try I cannot get the simplest of devices to work with the I2C port. I know that on an arduino board I use A4 & A5 and have no issues with these devices.
My problems start when using the ESP32 with the 7 inch V2.2 display and as I have said I cannot get the simplest of things to work using the I2c port.

Any advice would be very helpful.

I am trying to use the I2C port with an BME280 board, I have tried various BME libraries to try and utilise the ESP32 I2c Ports and not the Arduino ports.
Please can somebody point me in the right direction. I only at this point want to print the out reading to the serial port.

I am currently working on a project to make a dash for a small off road vehicle. The interface was made using Squareline Studio and the platformio project was based off https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Qw7hdW862upBigarI11btgl4cQkr0vpe from elecrow.

I am not using the touch screen, although every time I touched it before disabling it the screen would glitch.
Otherwise, the interface looks fine as long as no label or widget is updated, but it glitches on the refresh every time something has to be redrawn.

I have read that LovyanGFX Drivers should be used to avoid this problem, however I have implemented it in my project and the issue wasn't resolved.

Here is my project: https://github.com/Baja-UdeS/HMI_Race_Interface

Has anyone encountered this problem?
