Upgrading an older CrowPi2 to RaspberryPi 5

Is it possible to upgrade an older CrowPi2 to use a Raspberry Pi 5 ?
There are several issues:
1. Is the power supply big enough? Apparently the newer CrowPi2 uses a USB C connector whereas the older one uses a barrel connector and the supplied power supply is rated at 12v 2 Amps. Obviously this is stepped down to 5 volts for the Raspberry Pi but will it supply enough current for the Pi5 ?
2. The Pi 5 heat sink and fan assembly is not compatible with the CrowPi2 and needs to be removed. Is the CrowPi2 cooling fan enough to cool the Pi 5 ?
3. The Pi 5 connectors are compatible with the Pi 4 but is the CrowPi2 wiring, connectors, and power supply heavy enough for the extra current requirements of the Pi 5 ?

  • Hi, Rovman,
We are sorry that the old version of Crowpi 2 cannot be used directly with Raspberry Pi 5.

  • Is it the internal power supply?
A bigger external power supply is easy.

    Hi, Rovman,
It is not because of the internal power supply. It is because the core board was modified.

The J14 PoE pins on the Pi5 get in the way of the case.
