CrowPI L: Pi Panel in bullseye

edited November 2024 in Raspberry Pi & CrowPi

Dear,
I try to upgrade from buster to bullseye with this procedure
( sudo apt update; sudo apt upgrade; sudo apt full-upgrade; sudo apt autoremove; sudo reboot )
and then I've update in /etc/apt/sources.list and /etc/apt/sources.list.d/raspi.list all references from buster to bullseye so I ran a new
sudo apt update; sudo apt upgrade; sudo apt full-upgrade; sudo apt autoremove; sudo reboot
and it gave me a new SO in bullseye version, but Pi Panel won't run... I'm on CrowPI L and a warning tells: "the software needs to run on Crowpi-Laptop!"

Is there a new SO image in bullseye or bookworm for Raspberry PI 4 8GB (the factor form that fit into CrowPI L)

  • Dear,

It seems the issue lies in compatibility with Pi Panel on Bullseye. CrowPi-L may require specific drivers or configurations not included in the Bullseye update. Unfortunately, there's no official CrowPi-L Bullseye or Bookworm image yet. Consider reverting to Buster or checking with the manufacturer for a compatible image release.

Looking for the latest CrowPi-L OS (Bookworm) image, please refer to this post.

Pi Panel is a software developed by Elecrow for the CrowPi L product. It is written in QT and allows users to learn programming knowledge. Additionally, the software provides hyperlinks to various portal websites.

    Dear,

It seems the issue lies in compatibility with Pi Panel on Bullseye. CrowPi-L may require specific drivers or configurations not included in the Bullseye update. I faced a similar challenge when using capcut pro video editor on a custom Pi setup—it turned out certain graphical interfaces just aren’t fully supported without the right drivers. Unfortunately, there's no official CrowPi-L Bullseye or Bookworm image yet. Consider reverting to Buster or checking with the manufacturer for a compatible image release.

I also have the same question. I followed the same upgrade steps from Buster to Bullseye on my Raspberry Pi 4 (CrowPi L), and after rebooting into Bullseye, Pi Panel stopped working with the same message: "the software needs to run on Crowpi-Laptop!" I'm wondering if there’s an updated Bullseye or Bookworm image officially configured for CrowPi L, or if there’s a compatibility fix needed to get Pi Panel working again. Would appreciate any guidance from others who’ve successfully upgraded without breaking the CrowPi software!

    Dear benner,
We are very sorry, but we do not have the updated image or repair method you need. We recommend that you do not upgrade the system, as this will damage our learning system. If you need to return to the original image system, you can download and install it from our website.
We are very sorry for the inconvenience.
    Best regards,

I totally understand the frustration with upgrading CrowPi L from Buster to Bullseye and seeing Pi Panel stop working. I am mid experimenting with different setups on my Raspberry Pi 4 as well, and it seems some software—like Pi Panel—relies on very specific drivers or system configurations. Until an official Bullseye or Bookworm image for CrowPi L is released, it might be safer to stick with Buster.
On a similar note, I’ve been exploring creative tools for making animations on Raspberry Pi projects, and recently I tried Alight Motion without watermark new version on my tablet to create visuals for learning projects. It’s impressive how these tools can complement hardware-based learning setups like CrowPi L!
