CrowView Note - Clone in OSD options

edited November 19 in CrowView Series Screen

In the on-screen display, there is an option to "CLONE" in the MISC settings. What does this do? Does anyone know?

  • Hello @skarm
The "CLONE" option in the MISC (miscellaneous) settings of an on-screen display (OSD) typically refers to a display mode where the same content is duplicated on multiple screens connected to the same source. Here’s what it generally means and does:

    What "CLONE" Does:
Duplicate Display Content: When "CLONE" mode is enabled, the primary display's output is mirrored exactly onto a secondary display. Both screens show the same content at the same resolution and refresh rate.
For Multiple Displays: This is useful in setups where you need identical output on more than one screen, such as presentations, demonstrations, or setups with external monitors.

  • Does that mean that that the Crow View Note can OUTPUT video to an additional screen using the USB-C port? Or does it clone a video INPUT that comes in to the Crow View Note onto the CrowView Note's screen?

The CrowView Note is primarily a portable monitor, meaning its core function is to serve as an external display for laptops, tablets, phones, or other devices.

    Mirror (Clone):

When connected to a laptop or another video source, the CrowView Note can mirror the primary display. In this mode, whatever is shown on your laptop or device screen will also appear on the CrowView Note.
    Extend:
The CrowView Note can also act as a secondary display for multitasking. In this mode, your laptop or device can extend its workspace by using the CrowView Note as a separate screen, allowing you to have different content on each screen.

Can the CrowView Note OUTPUT video to an additional screen via the USB-C port?
No, the CrowView Note cannot output video to another screen. It is designed to receive video input (e.g., from a laptop or a phone in desktop mode like Samsung DeX) and display it.

Can the CrowView Note mirror (clone) video input onto its own screen?
Yes, the CrowView Note can display video input it receives via USB-C or HDMI onto its screen. This is what it means to act as an external monitor.

The CrowView Note is a display-only device and does not function as a source to output video to other displays.
It mirrors or extends the video signal it receives from another device like a laptop, PC, phone, or gaming console.
