Crowpanel esp32 7" touchscreen problem

Hello. I'm facing a very strange issue that I've spent a lot of time trying to solve, but I haven't been able to fix it. To explain briefly:
I created a project using a 7" ESP32 Crowpanel, which includes buttons on the screen. When I first power up the screen, the touch feature doesn't work. Based on what I can observe from the serial monitor, it continuously outputs the same 5-digit x and y coordinates infinitely, as if it's frozen or stuck. However, when I cut the power and restore it within 3-4 seconds, the screen works flawlessly :) But if I cut the power and wait for 10-15 seconds before powering it up again, I face the same issue as at the start.

I'm a hobbyist when it comes to electronics and don't have in-depth knowledge, but I suspect this could be an issue related to the screen's capacitors. This project is important to me, and I would really appreciate your help.

  • Hello,
I have the same problem with a 7" and a 5" ESP32 Crowpanel. But not all of our displays. Only some of them.
Sometimes, after starting, then you can see, that a button is pressed all the time. And you cannot do anything, to solve this. In the serial monitor you can see the x- and y-coordinates. So, the display do not seems to be frozen. It seems to be, that the display realizes a touch on the screen without touching. After a restart it works. But sometimes you need two or three restarts.

Is the CrowPanel the Problem or the software? Can someone help us?

  • I just received my 7 Inch today, there appears to be a crack in the panel, could this be the reason tutorial (paaint) 4 version 2.0 is not working, I can't find a contact for reporting the crack in the Display as well.

  • Hello @tolgakelesli @regAlex @RJ1234 ,
May I kindly ask what is the board version of the CrowPanel hardware?
